Determination of % PRA and Identification of HLA Antibody Using Home-made Lymphocytes Panel

Abstract
This study was carried out to known whether % panel reactive antibody (% PRA) value can distinguish HLA-antibody from platelet-specific antibody, and specificities of HLA-A, B antibody can be identifiable with home-made lymphocytes panel.
Clinical
relevance and implication of platelet-transfusion in HLA-or platelet specific-antibody detected cases and on the level of % PRA value were also examined. Twelve out of twenty two positive sera for HLA-antibody showed 20 or more % PRA ranged from
17
to
100, however all the five negative control and five positive sera for platelet specific antibody showed less than 20 of % PRA. Identified specificities of HLA-A, B antibody were antibody to A1, A10, B5 and so on which is not common in Korea, and
%
PRA
value itself did not correlate with the frequency of Korea ethnic HLA-A, B phenotypes. All the patients positive for HLA-antibody received platelet transfusions. Therefore it shows more than 20 of % PRA value with 30 lymphocytes panel, it might
indicate
the presence of HLA antibody in sera. Some specificities of HLA-antibody were identified with home made 30 HLA-A, B antigen known lymphocytes.
